Red Panda Tapes: The Bamboo Papers #6

Welcome to the sixth edition of the Red Panda Tapes Newsletter!

Hello there, pack mates!

We've been fans of Girish and the Chronicles (GATC) for a very long time, and today, for those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure, we're excited to dive into their music.

The first time we saw them live was in 2013 when they opened for Hoobastank in Shillong. It was one of those performances that you don't forget. Clad in leather jackets, with a vocal range that rivals Axl Rose and guitar solos that could stand toe-to-toe with Slash, they left an indelible mark on everyone present.

Since that day, we've made it a point to attend their concerts whenever they're in town. And you should too.

Below are some of our favourite GATC tracks that we recommend for anyone looking to get a taste of their music. Each song carries a piece of the band's heart and soul, delivering the quintessential classic-rock experience that’s been missing from most of our lives in the last decade:

  • Angel”: This was their first demo single that was released in 2009.

  • "Endless Road": This is the song that had reached to a wider Indian audience back in 2016. (2M views of Youtube)

  • "Rock the Highway": This album was released in 2020 when the band was approached by a Denmark -based record label, for an album deal.

  • "Always - Cover": This one’s a cover by the frontman Girish Pradhan. It’s videos and performances like these that make us wonder why isn’t GATC famous world wide.

Here’s their Spotify if you’d like to explore more. We definitely suggest checking out their discography. There aren't many bands in India as good as GATC when it comes to live performances.

Until our next edition.

So, as we continue on this journey, we'd love for you to be right there with us!

Let's build a tight-knit community where every voice is heard and celebrated. If you're as excited as we are, don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on Instagram, and be part of the Red Panda Tapes family. Let's make some noise together.
